ABOUT US
PETERSON COMPANY
The Columbus, Ohio based Peterson Company was founded in 1932, by Paul B. Peterson, Sr., as the first guardrail construction company in the State of Ohio, contracting exclusively with state and local governments to install guardrail systems along highways. The demand for abundant right-of-way fence work in the government highway contracts during the early 1950’s influenced the company to expand its services to include fence construction. In the late 1950’s, with a growth of fence in the private sector, the company subdivided its operation into Fence and Highway Divisions.
During the 1960’s as the construction of the interstate highways flourished in Ohio, the company’s Highway Division added interstate sign installation to its expertise. In the mid 1970’s, again to meet market demand, the company established its Safety Division, primarily for the purpose of total traffic control service, including fabricating and installing signs, maintenance of traffic, and rental of traffic control devices to the highway construction industry.
Today, the company has diversified its services and expertise into temporary work zone striping, jet blast fencing, pedestrian barricades, ITS dynamic message signs, highway attenuators and sound barriers. The Peterson Company has an established “track record” of quality service and performance, having served the contracting industry in Ohio and its bordering states for over 80 years. That is something to consider… after all, there is no substitute for experience!
